Kornelia Ogorkowna began her
studies in Poland, however her uncompromisingly modern worldview obliged
her to leave her home country, from which she nonetheless maintains a
close affinity with Chopin. She continued her studies in Paris, before
moving to Belgium where she now resides permanently.
Obtained a Master’s degree in piano performance with jury’s special
mention from the Ecole Normale de Musique ‘A. Cortot’ in Paris in 1984
and a Master’s degree with distinction from the Royal Conservatorium of
Music in Liege, Belgium in 1990. Completed her studies with K.Szafranek
(student of E.Petri), A. Jasinski, M. Rybicki, J. Sulikowski, J.
Longrée-Poumay, Aquiles Delle-Vigne (student of Claudio Arrau) and
master classes with M. Tagliaferro, V. Merjanov and R. Bakst. Among
other awards, she won first prizes at the International Competition in
Epinal, the Competition organised by the European Music Institute
Besançon, and at the ‘Gunther’ Competition in Brussels. Also second
prizes at the European Piano Competition, and at the International
Viotti-Valsesia Competition.
As concert soloist she has played under conductors such as Y. Simonov,
P. Bartholomée, J. Mercier, T. Guschlbauer and M. Fuzer Nawi, with the
Philharmonic Orchestras of Liege, Strasburg, RTL-Luxemburg, the Belgian
National Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Malaysia, and all major
Polish orchestras. She has made guest appearances at the Venice
Festival, Krakow Spring, Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdroj, ‘Festival
des Minimes’ (Brussels), Flaine Festival, and the International Piano
Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
In her career as soloist and chamber musician Ms Ogorkowna has been
applauded in Baltimore, Barcelona, Bari, Bologna, Brussels, Dresden,
Florence, Geneva, Genoa, Gerona, Hanover, Hartford, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto,
Paris, Perugia, Porto, Rome, Salzburg, Singapore, Spoleto, Strasburg,
Terni, Tokyo, Venice, Warsaw, etc.
Parallel to her concert activities she is guest professor at various
master classes and member of the jury at numerous international
competitions. Active in the musical life of her adopted country she is
artistic director of the concert series ‘Musici Artis Liège’. Kornelia
Ogorkowna has made numerous recordings for European radio and
television, as well as several CDs with RCP (Belgium) and KNS-Classical
